Silver is whitish, has one blue and one brown eye, and hails from Ireland. She shares her new stables with black, brown and beige horses, with Norwegian, Arab, and I-don’t-know-what-kind-of roots. After a few initial bickerings, they have settled down peacefully together. Watching them makes me hum,
“Imagine all the people
Livin’ life in peace
Yoo, hoo, ooh-ooh
You may say I’m a dreamer…”
Well, back to knitting. It’s also time to start a few new projects. First of all, I dug out the yarn I bought at a crafts fair in February 2020.
I’m glad to meet Silver and hope to see her again in future posts. Looking forward to seeing the forthcoming wrap and the cardigan, too. Turquoise and teal, alpaca, merino, and kid silk – my favorites.
Will certainly keep you posted about the wrap and the cardigan. Visiting people is a bit of a problem here at the moment, but visiting horses doesn’t fall under any restrictions, so, yes I hope to visit Silver again soon.
I enjoyed this virtual chat with you! Cheers!
Cynthia
Hi! It’s good to see you here again. Hope you are both okay. xxx
I really enjoyed reading this post earlier with my second cup of coffee. Spring here looks quite a bit like your spring. Our scilla isn’t in bloom yet — yours looks a little bit different than ours but it must be a relative because it appears in every yard here, even those that never planted a bulb! Thank you for sharing your knitting and your neighborhood with those of us far away. BIJude from the Churchmouse Ravelry group
That’s interesting, isn’t it? Living so far apart and still having the same sort of plants in our gardens. That’s one of the things I love most about blogging – the contact with people from all over the globe.
I love linen stitch, and I look forward to following your progress along the way, after you begin your shawl.
What is your favorite pattern for socks? I’d love to know, since I’m on a sock-knitting spree! Right now , I’ve been knitting Hermione’s Everyday Socks.
The linen stitch should sort of blend the colours together nicely. The socks I usually knit are the socks my mum taught me to knit, and her mum taught her to knit, with a few modifications. I rarely use a sock pattern, but just vary on the socks I’ve knit all my life. Maybe I could publish the pattern someday. I’ll keep it in mind.
ETA: I’ve taken a look at the socks you mentioned (Hermione’s Everyday Socks). They have a lovely all-over pattern!
Isn’t it lovely to have an in-between project that requires very little concentration and has no deadline? I have a second Christel Seyfarth Mongolia shawl on the needles for those occasions, I’ve been working on it on and off for 2 years and it might take another 3 years to finish and that’s totally fine.
Curious to see how your fingerless mittens will turn out!
Oh, that Mongolia shawl is going to be stunning! That certainly is a project that shouldn’t be hurried either. More about the fingerless mittens in a few weeks’ time, I hope.
